Panic Sets In is a feature film that tells the story of a married couple, Jack and Rachel, who return to their car one night in the inner city after taking in a late movie. Before they can set out for home, a troubled transient man jumps into their backseat and pulls a gun. After a tense interrogation, leading the couple into complete panic, he forces Jack to make a decision: with the gun to his head, does he choose to spare himself or his wife? Who lives and who dies?
Jack makes his choice. Thankfully, no one is killed, but over the next year it becomes clear that nothing can ever be like it was before. Checking in with the couple at one hour, one day, one week, one month and one year after the incident, the film chronicles Jack’s and Rachel’s tense, complicated, and sometimes cringe-inducingly humorous mission to restore some sense of normalcy to their marriage. And in so doing, it questions each partner’s responsibilities and roles in the relationship.
Part suspense-thriller, part domestic drama, and part dark comedy, Panic Sets In is a twisted trip into the heart of one couple’s tenuous bond.
No relationship has ever been tested quite like this one.
