This American Gothic melodrama explores one event, the unfolding of a love triangle during the robbery of a drug store in a small Midwestern town, from three points of view. Rashomon-like in its construction, Starkweather allows each of its three characters to present his/her version of the crime of passion that brings the robbery to its fatal conclusion. The film was created to take advantage of the interactive and random-play abilities of the DVD format, presenting different motivations and secrets, and thus varied individual experiences of the central narrative, with multiple viewings.
