Pregame is an offbeat nonfiction examination of the tradition of college football tailgating, and the social codes, gender roles, and senses of community and competition that accompany it. On a sheer visceral level, the film also functions as an enjoyable piece of classic people-watching, slowing common activities to a crawl in an attempt to dissect them, but also to appreciate them as demonstrative of the casual goofiness of human nature and communal spirit.
