Established the PSU Film Program collaboration with Portland’s leading independent, nonprofit movie theater, the Hollywood Theater. The film program and the Hollywood jointly program and present films under the banner “Portland State Film”.

With Art professor Julie Perini, organized and programmed the annual “PSU Film + Video Show”, which spotlights the best student film work produced in the School of Art and Design and the School of Theatre and Film.

Programmed and hosted, at the 5th Avenue Cinema, this evening of short films produced by Film students from PSU and the University of Oregon in the 2015 “Cinema Studies in Dublin” study abroad program. Student filmmakers were present for a Q & A session after the films.

Arranged and moderated a talk with Brian Trenchard-Smith, legendary British director of more than 40 movies, whose most notorious and successful films came out of the “Ozspoitation” phenomenon, the B-movie explosion in 1970s and 1980s Australia. Trenchard-Smith famously discovered Nicole Kidman, and is Quentin Tarantino’s favorite director.

Organized and hosted a visit to Portland State Film by Jon Raymond, the novelist and Emmy-nominated screenwriter of the films Old Joy, Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff, Night Moves, and HBO’s Mildred Pierce.

Programmer, Portland State of Mind, Portland, OR, 2014.
Organized and facilitated the Portland State Film presentations at the 2014 Portland State of Mind. This entailed planning a directing workshop with legendary Hollywood genre filmmaker Fred Dekker, presenting a career retrospective of Mr. Dekker’s works, and hosting a Q & A session following a nearly sold-out 35mm screening of Dekker’s classic horror-comedy The Monster Squad at the Hollywood Theater.

Hosted a Q & A session with legendary Hollywood genre director Fred Dekker during the “Narrative Film Production III” course. Opened the event to all PSU students and nearly filled the 60-seat screening room in 331 Lincoln Hall.  Mr. Dekker was kind enough to stay after the session to speak with students and sign DVDs and posters.

Programmed and introduced “The Eighties Vision of the Future” at the Hollywood Theater, a double-feature of Michael Crichton films (1981’s Looker and 1984’s Runaway), along with a selection of commercials and promotional videos from the 1980s exploring advancements in technology.

Established and programmed the Portland Indie Filmmaker Guest Speaking Series at Portland State University. Guests have included local Portland filmmakers Andy Blubaugh, Elijah Hassan, Bruno George, Mercedes Rose and Brighton West.

Programmed and introduced “Manhunter: the Vision of Michael Mann” at the Hollywood Theater, a screening of the 1986 film, accompanied by a lecture on the themes and aesthetics in Mann’s work.

Supervised and introduced “PDX/MV: A Night of Portland Music Videos” at the Hollywood Theater, a screening of cutting-edge music videos from Portland artists and filmmakers. The screening included a live performance by the up-and-coming Portland band Josh and Mer.

Supervised, programmed, and lectured at “The Monmouth College Cybercinema Screening Series”, focused on films that address technology, ethics and politics.

Curator, Iowa City, IA, 2002-2003.
Founded “D:Cinema,” a screening series of groundbreaking digital filmmaking; researched, solicited, and personally introduced each film; the permanent collection is housed at the University of Iowa.
