Faithless

NTSC/4:3/TRT 13:16/B&W/2002

What if the best night of your life was also the last night of your life? At first entrancing and tranquil, then jarring and unsettling, Faithless tells the dramatic story of a man who finds the good in a world of hatred and prejudice. A simple visual scheme, inspired in part by Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire, allows writer and artist (and medical doctor!) Christopher Okiishi’s deeply humane, emotionally naked and unabashedly romantic monologue to take center stage. Written by Okiishi in response to Neil LaBute’s short play A Gaggle of Saints, Faithless is an unorthodox piece, terrifying yet moving in its intimacy and frankness.
